Terry Adkins, the African American artist and professor of fine art at University of Pennsylvania, has died. An artist of great substance best known for his "Recitals"--sculptural installations and performances in honor of under-recognized Black historical figures, Adkins was a poet of form who also understood art making as socio-political work.
